Message in a bottle

So today I found a message in a bottle. (!!!!!!!!!) It’s the power of intention at work. I talk about finding one a lot. I’m kind of obsessed. (Well I’m kind of obsessed about a lot of things, but that’s a whole other story!). I have looked forward to this day for years!!! It’s probably the romantic in me, I love the idea of a bottle riding the tides bringing a special message to the finder. I don’t think this bottle traveled long or far, but it’s still magical to find.

Last week I stopped while I was out on a run because the mill pond at the beach looked so pretty. I decided I needed to take a quick photo. When I entered the edge of the marsh, I was saddened by how much trash was there. (I do big beach clean ups fairly regularly, and in between try to at least make sure I grab a few pieces of plastic every time I’m on the beach). This is not an area that’s very accessible, it’s the very edge of the pond, even when I’m kayaking out there, it’s not a place I get to. I guess it’s a collection spot for debris from the movement of the tides. So this morning, I grabbed a couple of bags (I noticed while picking up trash, one was one of my old Girl Scout totes which says ‘make the world a better place’, guess I’m all in on that one!!!) bundled up, and went to do a quick clean up at low tide. The amount of plastic trash I picked up in just a half hour saddened me, but that’s also a story for another day…

I found this small, glass bottle with a cork stopper that was broken off. It was covered in marsh grass, and dirt and I couldn’t quite tell what (if anything) was in the bottle, so I threw it in my bag to have a better look when I got home. There was a message in the bottle! Turn outs there was water in the bottle which had turned to ice (I don’t wear my glasses when I’m out cleaning up, things are much clearer when I get home and put them on!) which was why I couldn’t quite determine what was in there. Once it was inside, the ice melted, and I saw the rolled up note and could see it had words on it. Of course now, it’s soaking wet and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to unroll it, but we’ll all have to wait and see…

I couldn’t help it, I had to see if I could unroll it a little, even though I knew it was a bad idea… the first sentence unrolled okay, and then of course practically disintegrated, it says ‘be kind’. And as I’m a huge believer in the sentiment, if that’s all I get, it’s enough.

Though the next bottle I find, the note inside will be dry and legible. (You can ignore that bit, it was to the Universe). *winks*

I’ll let you know if I’m able to read the note…

Anything fantastic happen to you today?
