Things to do on Cape Cod

…Well, other than having your Cape Cod family photo created on the beach of course! A family favorite of ours is to go to the Wellfleet Drive In. We pack up a dinner, or in last night’s case, go to the supermarket and buy some sushi and wings, some fresh guacamole and chips, along with a little junk food and off we go.

I have a portrait session coming up this week in Wellfleet for a Make a Wish family. I am so excited for it, the family is just so lovely, I can’t wait to meet them all, and take their portrait while they’re visiting beautiful Cape Cod. They have such a great week planned, surf lessons, fishing excursions, etc. wish I could join them for the entire week rather than just the one night creating family photos for them! I wanted to do a quick site survey of the house they’ll be at, so I had an idea of the light and tidal conditions, so we planned that into our evening’s entertainment. The house is in such a spectacular spot, I am so excited to take their family beach portraits there.

Drive in theater with stars

I love to go to the drive in because of the stars as much as the movies. For me, they are just as entertaining. And last night didn’t disappoint. It was spectacular, the temperature dropped and the sky was so clear. The Milky Way was as beautiful as I’ve ever seen (sadly it was a bit camera shy and was off to the side of and behind the camera) and there were a lot of shooting stars. I had to remind myself to watch the movie more than once!

I totally recommend a visit added to your vacation, snuggling under the blanket with your kids (my daughter’s a teen so for me it was even more of a highlight as times like that are few and far between), watching fun family films (if your children are little, they may sleep during the second feature so you can even add an almost date night to your family vacation), maybe eating al fresco, getting a couple of quiet hours and even do a little stargazing, it’s a perfect way to spend a Cape Cod night.

PS. Super excited that CNN published this photo in their Capturing the cosmos: Your stunning photos of the night sky! That totally made my summer!!!!
